Privacy Policy
Effective date and last updated: July 18, 2026
Short version: the Windows app does not collect personal data, does not track you, and does not include advertising or third-party analytics. Microphone input and Windows system audio are analyzed only in memory on your device to create visual effects.
App Privacy Summary
This policy applies only to the Windows version of Disco Lights Music Visualizer distributed through the Microsoft Store. The Android, iOS and iPadOS apps, and the public website have separate data practices and separate disclosures.
1. Information We Collect
The Windows app does not collect or receive personal information, audio recordings, names, email addresses, contacts, location, payment information, advertising identifiers, usage analytics, diagnostics, or other user data. It does not require an account or sign-in.
The app does not sell, rent, share, or use personal data for advertising, profiling, or tracking.
2. Microphone and Windows System Audio
When you select a music-reactive mode, the app can use either microphone input or Windows system audio from the output device you choose. Audio frames are analyzed in real time in the device's memory to calculate values such as sound level, peak energy, bass energy, and beat timing. Those values drive the app's colors and visual effects.
The app does not create audio recordings, save audio to files, upload audio, or transmit audio over a network. Audio frames are used only during the active visualization session and are discarded after processing.
Microphone permission
The packaged Windows app declares microphone access so microphone-reactive effects can work when you select that input. Windows controls this permission. If access is denied or revoked, microphone-driven effects may be unavailable.
Windows system audio
When you choose Windows sound, the app uses local loopback capture from the selected speakers or headphones. This processing remains on the device and is not used to identify songs, speakers, applications, or people.
3. Information Stored on Your Device
The app stores local preferences needed to remember your choices. These may include the selected audio input mode, selected audio device identifiers, tempo and effect settings, enabled colors, brightness mode, full-screen mode, control visibility, and visualization options.
These settings are stored in the app's Windows local settings and are not sent to AndrApps. The developer cannot remotely view them.
4. Network Use, Advertising, Analytics, and Third Parties
The Windows app does not use a network connection for audio analysis and does not include advertising, analytics, telemetry, social-network, or tracking SDKs.
If you click the Website option, Windows opens the public Disco Lights website in your default browser. The website is separate from the Windows app and has its own data practices, including website analytics and the optional AI assistant, described in the website and Google Play privacy policy.
Microsoft may process information needed to distribute, license, update, secure, and support apps through Windows and the Microsoft Store under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Those Microsoft services are separate from the Windows app's local audio processing.
5. Data Sharing
Because the Windows app does not collect or transmit personal data or audio, it does not disclose that information to AndrApps, advertisers, analytics providers, or other third parties.
6. Retention and Deletion
Audio frames are held only temporarily in memory while an audio-reactive effect is running and are discarded after processing. They are not retained as recordings.
Local preferences remain on your Windows device until you change or reset them, reset the app through Windows settings, or uninstall the app. Because the app does not send user data to AndrApps, the developer has no server-side Windows app data to retain or delete.
7. Your Privacy Choices
- Choose between Windows sound, microphone, and non-audio or random modes inside the app.
- Use non-audio modes without granting microphone access.
- Manage microphone access in Windows Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone, including access for desktop apps where shown.
- Change stored preferences inside the app, reset the app through Windows settings where available, or uninstall the app to remove its app-managed local settings.
Revoking microphone access affects only features that depend on microphone input. Windows system audio and non-audio modes may remain available where supported.
8. Children's Privacy
The Windows app is not designed to collect personal information from anyone, including children. It does not include accounts, advertising, tracking, or user-to-user communication.
9. Security
The app minimizes privacy risk by processing audio locally in memory and keeping preferences in the app's local Windows storage. The Windows app does not transfer user audio or local settings to developer-controlled servers.
10. Flashing-Light Safety
Disco Lights can display rapidly flashing or strobe-like effects. These effects may affect people with photosensitive epilepsy or other sensitivities. Stop using the app if you experience discomfort, dizziness, eye strain, or other symptoms. Do not use flashing effects while driving or in any situation where distraction could be dangerous.
This safety information is provided for responsible use and is separate from the app's privacy practices.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when the Windows app's features, permissions, legal requirements, or data practices change. The current version will be posted at this URL with a new last-updated date. The Microsoft Store listing will be updated where required.
